Position: Assembly Technician

Equipment Assembly personnel with experience at the assembly of automation equipment either with the electrical controls or the mechanical assemble or both. Advance Design & Systems is a growing Custom Automation Design Company. We specialize in automated equipment, prototype fixtures and tooling for the medical, aerospace, web handling and water filtration industries. Our on-site team includes Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, & Automation assembly including UL508A listed Control Systems and Precision Manufacturing.
The Assembly Technician works with team to prepare components and complete mechanical assembly operations per various customer specification/drawings. Familiarity with assembly tools and ability to interpret assembly drawings a plus.

  • Assemble components according to specifications and verbal instruction
  • Operate variety of hand tools or power tools as required
  • Work in both individual and team environment
  • Work with customer to meet their expectations
  • Perform detailed mechanical assembly per drawings and bills of material
  • Ability to read Electrical Schematics & prints
  • Ability to read multimeter and use to troubleshoot

  • Field wiring of Electrical components, motors, sensors, valves, servo motors, etc.
  • Prior Assembly experience preferred, but not required if applicant has mechanical aptitude and/or mechanic background.

Position: Mechanical Engineer

Mechanical Engineer Job Description

  • Develop design concepts, layout and detail drawings, using Solidworks
  • Develop Mechanical Bills of Materials
  • Interpret electrical design drawings to provide mechanical mounting components for devices
  • Research Commercial products for use as machine components
  • Interact with Electrical design personnel for seamless integration of mechanical and electrical devices.
  • Trouble shoot hardware and software to complete integration
  • Install equipment at customer sites and conduct FAT’s
  • Provide support to sales and applications engineers to develop proposals


  • BSME degree preferred
  • 3 – 5 years experience in the Automation industry
  • Proficient in design/drafting with Solidworks. AutoCAD electrical a plus.
  • Experience with part assembly, web handling, conveying Fanuc and/or Epson robots, and End Effectors a Plus
  • MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Powerpoint and Project)

Position: Automation Engineer


  • Design automation equipment per customer needs and specifications
  • Develop Automation Concepts from Customer specifications
  • Develop clear, concise, and accurate Layout drawings and prints
  • Develop key deliverable criteria, budgets, and timelines based on project requirements
  • Manage prioritization of activities to meet multiple project timeline requirements
  • Lead project planning from release of design to completion
  • Travel to client site as needed to gather information before engineering begins

Position: Electrical Control Panel Builder/Assembler

The main objective of the Electrical Control Panel Builder is to be proficient at building control panels. This involves wire handling, wire labeling, terminal labeling, knowing how to layout panels, and reading schematics. The technician must also use hand tools in an efficient manner.
To be successful in the role, the Electrical Control Panel Builder must demonstrate the ability to follow directions, be on time, be respectful of others, be a team player, accurately complete the job and daily time sheets, take accurate notes, keep the work-space clean and organized, and consistently provide accurate documentation of work completed.

• Inspect and test wiring installations, assemblies, and circuits for operation; and record results.
• Assemble electrical systems and support structures; and install components, units, subassemblies, wiring, and assembly casings, using rivets, bolts, soldering and micro-welding equipment.
• Read and interpret schematic drawings, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, work orders, and reports in order to determine materials requirements and assembly instructions.
• Position, align, and adjust work-pieces and electrical parts to facilitate wiring and assembly.
• Pack finished assemblies for shipment and transport them to storage areas, using hoists or hand trucks.
• Confer with supervisors or engineers to plan and review work activities, and to resolve issues.
• Explain assembly procedures or techniques to other team members.

• At least a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required
• A minimum of 12 months work experience with electrical or controls equipment
• Familiar with wiring PLC’s
• Familiar with wiring of 24VDC/220/480
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions and assembly aids
• Ability to read Electrical Schematics & prints
• Ability to work with power tools/drilling and tapping holes
• Associates Degree in Electrical & Electronic Equipment Assembly or related field preferred, but not required

Pine City Location

Position: CNC Operator

We are currently hiring a CNC Operator/Set Up to work in our Pine City Location.

Responsibilities include:

Read Set up sheets and prints to determine set up and operating requirements.
Mount material in machine, manually or using overhead crane
Select tooling in sequence specified per set up
Review control panel and compare to prints to verify any deviations prior to machining
Verify completed parts are made to print
Must be able to multi task, and operate other machines during machine run time
